Welcome to Autism in Action! We truly appreciate the time you are spending with us today. Whether you suspect your child has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or have already received a diagnosis, we want you to know that we are here as a resource for you.
We acknowledge that we can never fully comprehend your uniquely challenging journey because we are not parents of a child with autism. We do however, have more than forty years of "hands on" experience working with children on the autism spectrum and feel compelled to share with you what we have learned.
A primary goal of Autism in Action is to empower you to actively and effectively participate in your child's learning. To help you do this we have developed a series of "How-To" Teaching Programs. Each "How-To" is designed to teach an important readiness, behavioral, communication, self care, or social skill using applied behavior analysis (ABA) procedures. The best part is that you don't have to be an expert in ABA to get started. Each "How-To" Teaching Program guides you through exactly what to say and exactly what to do during instruction using easy to understand teaching steps. You can view a Sample "How-To" or the entire collection in the "How-To" Teaching Programs section. If you don't find what you need, please leave us a note at "How-To" Requests as we are continually developing additional "How-To" Teaching Programs. You might also find the Frequently Asked Questions and Autism Facts sections useful, whether for your own information or for helping family members, friends, neighbors, care takers and others better understand ASD.
In closing, we want to become a place you can come for reliable information and where you know you are valued as an important part of your child's learning. We wish you well throughout your journey and truly hope that our resources allow you to find that "a better tomorrow starts today."
Sincerely,
